She Who Watches

  Tsaglaglal, She Who Watches, has greeted the dawn over these distant Oregon hills on the Columbia River for hundreds perhaps thousands of years. No one knows for sure. The view for Tsaglaglal has changed over recent time with fences, phone lines and rail beds obscuring her pristine view. Probably the most dramatic change within her view happened in the mid 1950's with the damming of the lower Columbia River. The village site that legend has charged her with looking after has vanished beneath the water although her vigil continues.

This site is revered as a sacred place by the native decendents of this area. On occasion, they are free to gather to conduct their ceremonies and sacred rituals as their customs require.
